A talented young man. His paintings  his musical compositions attest to his creativity and emerge as expressions of his gentle soul. Thoughtful of others, he was soft by nature  but took his responsibilities seriously with strength of a lion. It was evident even as a young boy when he used all of his monetary Bar Mitzvah gifts to help kids with cancer. Helping others was not a one-time act but the principle that guided him throughout his years. When friends were going through a hard time, he listened deeply, and made people feel seen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not one to shirk his duty, defense of his country was paramount in his worldview. Along with his induction  was the invitation to join the Ezer Mizion bone marrow registry. Here too, his sense of responsibility did not allow him to simply bypass the booth. He registered and anxiously awaited the phone call telling him he was a match for a patient and could save a life. And while he waited, he set up a monthly donation to Ezer Mizion, helping to fund the genetic testing of its registrants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few months before the attacks of October 7, Amir had an unexpectedly candid conversation with his mother. Death did not frighten him. As a soldier, he often spoke about responsibility, service, and what it meant to defend his country. He told his parents that if anything happened to him, they should never lower the flag to half-mast. He even put together a playlist for his own funeral. The songs he chose weren’t mournful; they spoke of resilience, strength, and perseverance.

Two months later, those songs were played at his funeral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the morning of October 7, Amir was serving at the Sufa outpost near the Gaza border as part of a mortar unit when Hamas launched its surprise attack.
As sirens sounded, Amir and his fellow soldiers immediately responded. Within minutes, however, it became clear that terrorists had breached the base itself. Amid the chaos and heavy fighting, Amir was wounded and took shelter with several other injured soldiers.
At 7:06 AM, he managed to send his mother a voice message. He told her he had been injured and ended with three simple words: “I love you, Mamo.”
It would be the last message she would ever receive from him. Shortly afterward, terrorists entered the room and murdered everyone inside. Amir was nineteen and a half years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amir\u2019s mantra, the philosophy he lived with, was a simple sentence:  “If it’s possible to do good, then do it.” <\/em>The  torch was now passed onto his family to ensure that his values  continue to shape their own lives and the lives of so many others. They established the AMIR Foundation\u2014standing for Art, Music, Imagination (Creativity), and Ruach (Spirit)\u2014which supports artistic and musical initiatives in his memory. The foundation has created a music room for at-risk youth, provides scholarships for art students, and has organized charitable music events benefiting veterans’ mental health services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


One of the most tangible expressions of Amir’s legacy can be found each summer at Jerusalem’s Hutzot Hayotzer arts festival. There, visitors can purchase notebooks, bags, shirts, prints, and other items featuring Amir’s original artwork. His creativity, once shared among family and friends, now reaches thousands of people. At the booth, that simple sentence welcomes each guest as it provides a clear path to a successful life, quickly becoming an icon in Israel\u2019s population. “If it’s possible to do good, then do it.”

Every art fair sale supports Ezer Mizion\u2019s Bone Marrow Donor Registry, transforming Amir’s artwork into something even greater: a way to continue saving lives.
And perhaps that is the most fitting tribute of all. Through music, art, generosity, and acts of kindness, Amir’s story continues\u2014not only as a memory, but as an invitation to do good wherever we can.
