The ones that don’t are probably the ones you do not know very well. And handling a problem, besides for the problem itself, can be such a lonely experience. And overwhelming. Having someone at your side can make all the difference. It is the goal of Ezer Mizion to be that ‘someone’.

In moments, he will meet the child whose
life he had saved

A family welcomes a new baby into their home full of excitement. As he matures, they notice things. Normal motor milestones that their other children met with ease are not being met with this one. Doctors. Consultations. Tests and cat scans. Until the diagnosis becomes clear. Disability. For life.

The child needs help for so many daily activities but helping a child feels ok. Both for the child and parent. Then he grows up. His peers have become self-sufficient. They’ve begun their careers. Emotionally he is mature. Intellectually he is above average. But practically, he remains a child, needing assistance in every direction.

At Ezer Mizion’s Day Center in Nechalim, we serve individuals with complex physical disabilities, and most activities usually require some hands-on assistance. But not this time.

Introducing our newest initiative at the Adult Day Center: a full 3D-printing workshop. With incredible technologies like eye-tracking and mouth-operated mice, participants are becoming true industrial designers, planning, creating, and printing fully functional products from start to finish.

There’s still a long way to go before people with disabilities receive full, equal access and rights. And this workshop is one more step along that journey, a meaningful milestone – for them, and for us.

A new volunteer arrived at Ezer Mizion’s Lottie’s Kitchen to help deliver hot meals to families facing cancer. It was not till she received her list that she excitedly revealed her identity. “Today is a special day for me. Two years ago, I was on the receiving end of these meals. I am a mother of three small children and was incapable of lifting a finger. My husband did everything including feeding me. For all that time, I dreamed of being able to give back. And tonight is my first night as a volunteer. A happy ending indeed for this family. May they know no more tza’ar.

Baby Hila was born with Downs syndrome, a traumatizing period in her parents’ lives. But they grew to love her dearly as she became a source of joy in the family. With the many services offered by Ezer Mizion, raising her became doable. However, already maxed out in emotional strength, they were not ready for the next blow. Cancer. Their precious six-year-old child had cancer. Only a stem cell transplant could save her life. Of course, they turned to Ezer Mizion who had held their hands during their six year journey. Boruch Hashem, (Thank G-d) we were able to come through. Share the joy as the stem cell donor meets her for the first time with a giant balloon in his hand and a teddy bear in the hands of his wife, both gifts for the child they had come to love even before they met.

We yearn for the days when problems like these will be a thing of the past. But until that day arrives,

Ezer Mizion with its many divisions, its professional staff and 32,000 volunteers, will be there to ease the way.

<a class="synved-social-button
