Dear Rabbi Chollak:
Thank You!
My son Oren, a 28-year-old boy with Down’s Syndrome, and we, his family, are familiar with Ezer Mizion and meet up with them twice a year – at the retreat for special-needs young adults and at the Simchat Beit Hasho’evah.
These two events are literally his oxygen supply. All year, Oren talks about the experiences he had at the retreat – seeing the famous singers, the zoo, the tefillah at the Kotel, and more…
When Oren walks through the streets of Jerusalem, young men stop him, smile and greet him warmly. They remember him from the “Retreat.” Oren is a well-liked, popular fellow. He waits for the next time with great anticipation – for the dancing at the Simchat Beit Hasho’evah and of course, for the chance to see Rabbi Chollak.
Therefore, there is no way in the world that we could have passed this up and not registered him for Ezer Mizion’s retreat for special-needs young adults. It makes no difference that he is already a big boy and it makes no difference what the budget is… Just as a person can’t go without oxygen, so, it simply was not an option, it was not possible for Oren not to attend the Ezer Mizion camp. Hashem knows what is best for each and every one of us. He knows our wants and needs, and he sends his loyal agents – both for the son and for his mother. Since that is the case – the donor was found…
And now, I too can let the worry melt away from my heart, breathe a sigh of relief, and say with joy filling my heart –
תודה – Thank You!
