Out of the blue, without any advanced preparation, a family from Modi’in Ilit was thrust into the eye of the storm. Mommy is sick
After digesting the news, the father went straight to the nearby building of the Ezer Mizion Center knowing that there, they’d direct him as to where they go from here.
So began the wondrous journey with Ezer Mizion. A journey to physical recovery, emotional support, and empowerment of faith.
When the mother recovered with thanks to G-d, the couple sent an especially moving letter. Read on.
“In those first, frightening hours, Mrs. Altusky, from medical counseling supported us with words of encouragement and faith and with a listening ear that patiently received our repeated questions. She helped us search for the most appropriate doctor. She and Mrs. Porat became the figures who charged us up with strength and rallied to our very request for help.
R’ Emanuel Adler, who, with his inner calm, genuine caring, and gentle sensitivity, inquired, kept things moving, and even arranged a personal visit by Rav Chollak, which contributed so much to us. If we were stuck without a necessary drug after an operation, one phone call to R’ Emanuel and everything was taken care of.
“Mrs. Berlin and her co-staffers frequently arranged empowering and exciting events. It’s hard to describe in mere words the “Indulgence Day” at the Galei Sanz Hotel. We were exposed to the world of Ezer Mizion’s HUGE heart! The abundance, the activities, the smiles, the atmosphere. You could almost feel the great pride Hashem was enjoying at the raring about each other among his children.”
The couple especially points out the emotional support and cushioning that they and their children received all along the way. Birthdays full of surprises, happiness, and laughter, with the amazing volunteers who went to every extreme to raise their spirits.
The mother of the family mentions that even though one birthday was celebrated the day after she received a treatment, she couldn’t bring herself to remain in bed and miss the fun.
“The kids never missed any of the programs. They would run there happily way before the time, and come back thrilled from the diverse activities with amazing volunteers, true baalot chessed.
“When we told the children that Mommy baruch Hashem feels better, their eyes glistened with tears (ahem… not tears of emotion…). ‘You mean Ezer Mizion won’t invite us to the programs anymore???’ they asked.”
And the summer family retreat: We just packed our suitcases — without thinking of activities, food, equipment for hikes, etc. Thank you for first-class accommodations, rich meals, volunteers who breathe the oxygen of Ezer Mizion volunteering, for endless patience, warmth, all in good cheer and with a light touch.
“For abundant performances for the children’s pleasure. For a moving and unifying evening of inspiration that opened the hearts. And above all – for Rabbi Chollak’s speech, which was full of faith and awareness of Divine chessed and infused us with a spirit of closeness to Hashem.
“All in order to give and give and give, without a limit!!!!
“We send our blessings to you, all those who are care for the needs of others and with endless love May you see blessing and success in all of your work.”
